Over four decades at the University of Dhaka, Dr. Nahar supervised postgraduate research across all three of her fields, and helped build the national training infrastructure that supports laboratory science in Bangladesh.
As founder Joint Secretary and later Treasurer of the Network of Instrument Technical Personnel and User Scientists of Bangladesh, Dr. Nahar has run training on the use, maintenance and repair of scientific instruments for scientists and technicians across public and private institutions — covering common laboratory equipment, spectroscopy, LC, GC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, AAS and NMR.
Editor of the Chemistry textbook for Classes IX–X, a responsibility given by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board of Bangladesh — reaching students far beyond the university.
Organised awareness programmes at rural level on the safe use of pesticides, translating pesticide residue research into practice for the people most exposed to it.
